Metal Hive 2 is a First Person Action-Shooter game that aims to replicate the feeling of games like metroid prime. Our protagonist Ramira, is in search of her boyfriend Ramiro that has been captured by armored bugs in the previous installment Metal Hive. Ramira, with the use of one of the enemy's armor and weapons, charges straith forward to an enemy ship in order to reunite with her lost boyfriend.
The protagonist in this game possesses enhanced movement, due to the armor stolen, for that reason the gameplay heavily leans towards platforming and dodging enemy bullets. Consequently, the level design needs to accommodate the advanced moves such as dashing and double jumps of Ramira, and so, the map is full of moving platforms and enemies placed to make sure the player is constantly on the go and never stays still for too long.

Due to the limited time of development, Metal Hive had a very brief pre-preduction cycle, alot of it was designing the map you can see here. The world map initially only consisted of the two floors of the space-ship but later the tutorial level was added to ease in player to the mechanics and the game flow.
The level design itself is heavily inspired by the world of “Zelda and Souls series”, in the sense the player can find shortcuts and the path “loop” on itself as the player traverses it.
The enemy placement and traps were made to slowly increase the game rhythm and difficulty. The Golden Path represents the main path the player ideally takes when playing the game it helped to balance the game rhythm
Aesthetics
The game visuals intend on capturing the “vibe” of the original playstation, and draws heavy inspiration from sci-fi movies like Alien.
